Are you happy?

A few thoughts for today–
I've been wondering if people will get the wrong impression of my teacher/master if I'm walking around lacking a smile. I think the problem in my thinking here can be summed up in a few thoughts:
If you want to walk around always smiling, you don't need Jesus, what you need is some drugs.
If you want rules that make you feel like you've got your life under control, you don't need Jesus, what you need is some religion - any religion will most likely do.
But if what you want involves the real way, the actual truth, or authentic life, then you need Jesus - God who became flesh to pave the way for us to know and love God.
If what you want is to not feel the pain of your own life, then you'll have a hard time, but you may be able to drown it out in a sea of movies and soap operas.
If what you want is for people to like you, then you'll have to work hard to keep up the front you want to portray — I hope you don't crack.
But if you want to truly see the world as it should be, and be part of that solution instead of the problem, I'd suggest you listen to Jesus and where He is taking His creation, and how He will use his Church to make all things new.
thanks for listening,
Daniel in Nashville
