REVIEW - The Story We Find Ourselves In
By daniel | May 5, 2005
This book is good. Very much different feeling than the first book, A New Kind Of Christian. It is much more understated. In this way, it's sneaky, especially if you read the first book and decided to read the second. See, the first one was a bit more harsh, and so you got used to the way he tried to get your mind “open.” This second one is much more subversive, because it's understated.
On my tangent here, I think the thing about being closed-minded, is that it means you're not willing to present yourself with the facts (perhaps again) and make a rational judgement on things. McLaren offers many new ways of seeing life, and some of them are very good! I especially like his view of seeing yourself in a story, with many parts.
Not much else to say, though I like the book. It helps serve as a nutcracker for the closed mind, I'd think. So I recommend this for anyone needing to have their mind helped open.
