Satan the Lying Liar

By daniel | July 11, 2005

We've been studying a lot about the great war that appears to encompass all of time and history — that of Good and Evil, of God and His versus Satan and his.
That being said, we've also spoken a lot about Satan's weapon - the lie.
Oh, what havoc a simple little lie can wreak!  If the enemy can convince you that, say, it's okay to do something as long as you don't hurt anyone, then what can become of that, once you truly believe it?  You will find yourself trying to find reasons to gain pleasure, power, etc for yourself, each time trying to justify how you are not hurting anyone.  Or perhaps you'll be willing to inconvenience someone at first, and then later determine how what is good for you isn't actually “hurting” someone.  This can lead you down a long trail until you are just confused as to why the world  doesn't revolve around you.  See the tragedy that can come of one lie accepted and never confronted?
And the leads to our weapon - the obvious one - the truth.  If we know and have given the truth solid footing and foundation in our mind, any lie presented by the enemy will be immediately cast as at least suspicious, if not downright ridiculous.  It is this truth hidden in our hearts that will let us see a lie and cast it out.
Let us commit to no longer being weak in our knowledge of the truth.  Let us put Scripture into our hearts and minds that the Spirit can refer us to when we are presented with lies from the enemy.  Let us continue in our seeking the Lord and not grow weary of the struggle to grow up into who He has declared us to be.
