Humility in Relationships
By daniel | December 2, 2005
I've spent this week thinking about and working on an article about Timothy, Paul, apprenticeship, and my experiences with all those. One thing has really, really stood out to me in all of it.
Humility is what allows to people to interact with each other properly. I've been mostly thinking about a student-teacher relationship, where a mentor and an apprentice both need humility to be able to sit under such a close eye nearby. But this can apply to any and all relationships. You must have humility in your relationship with God, your spouse, boss, friends, siblings, parents, coworkers, etc! Pride is the stiff-arm that keeps people from being close to us, and more importantly, pride keeps us from drawing close to others. We all have something to offer, but it's not because we're "all that." It's because we're all designed to have something unique to offer. My neighbor just the same as me.
I apologize for the sparse posts this week — been pretty busy, but it'll be back to normal next week!
