Jesus: Humanity and Divinity

By daniel | December 7, 2005

JesusLast night we had a great discussion on the humanity and the divinity of Jesus the Messiah.  We were looking at the way Jesus became human (kindof a Christmas theme, I think).  It seems to us, at least, that Jesus really gave an example of what we could be.  A lot of times our thoughts about Jesus sound like 'I could never be like Him — He was God' or 'He did miracles, I could never do miracles' or soforth.

Truth be seen and read, Jesus had the same Spirit and same Father as me (and you, if you believe).  Jesus only did what He heard from the Father, and I've been known to hear from the Father before (as I'm sure you have).  Jesus was empowered for His mission by the Spirit, which I certainly have experienced before.  Even what Jesus said leads us to trust his example as exactly such: an example.  'Once I go, you will do even greater works than I did.' and 'Every student will be just like His teacher when he is fully trained' (said to His students)

I'd just like to encourage all of us sometimes wayward followers to press on in our following Christ as our teacher — He is the only one who has the words of life.  Indeed, he is the Way, He is the Truth, and He is the Life.
