Third Day - Wherever You Are

By daniel | January 6, 2006

Third Day: I like them and really enjoy their music, for the most part.  This album is a bit more diverse than their normal style, and I really liked it.  Read on…

Technical:  Great production, great singing voice by Powell, great southern rock sound, and great album art.  It seems like there's always a picture of the whole band on the front of their albums.

Artistic:  They did mostly their normal style, but on quite a few songs broke the mold, successfully!  Keep on Shinin' is a great song, in a little bit different groove than I'm used to hearing from Third Day.

Content:  In large part, the major theme of this CD is loss and the difficulty of life.  There's also a corresponding theme of healing and carrying on, of course in the grace of God.  Only one song do I have issues with, How Do You Know.  This song seems to carry a theme I really experienced listening to their previous album, one of You-don't-know-how-hard-my-life-is (except in Wire, it was I'm-a-rockstar-its-so-hard).  This seems like an out-of-place theme.  Very defensive.  But not overwhelming, only one song, it's ok.  Overall, the thoughts presented in the CD are excellent, and who can't identify with songs that talk about going through the valley to be on the Mountain of God??
