An Announcing People

By daniel | January 25, 2006

Last night, we talked about being an announcing people.  We talked about what this good news is that we are announcing, and how to announce it.  I think all of these are critical questions, and require immediate attention.

The good news (aka, the Gospel)has so many aspects, it's hard to pick a starting point.  But perhaps our starting point should be where it hits closest to home in the hearer, so here are my thoughts on that, based on our discussion last night.  GOOD NEWS!  There is hope for you, and I know, because there is hope for me that I have seen with my eyes.  You don't need to remain a slave to yourself and this world that keeps you from the life you've always wanted, or wanted to want.  GOOD NEWS!  The freedom that you can have has already been secured by one, Jesus Christ, King of Heaven and Earth.  He loves and desires you, and your participation in His Kingdom as it seeks to restore the earth and replace the rotten old things with the new and good things of his intentions.  GOOD NEWS!  His Spirit will lead, guide, comfort, protect, empower, and connect you, both directly, and also through His People (aka, the Church).  Your life now has meaning within the great story and within the local community.  GOOD NEWS!  You can actually believe this, because I've seen the living Jesus working, even in my life, even now, and let me tell you how.

Making this good news relevant is a matter of having it in the first place, and then on knowing the one(s) you intend to share with, and where they come from.  I'll share tomorrow what Jesus has been changing in me lately.
