Mindfulness and Walking in the Spirit
By daniel | March 10, 2006
Tuesday night at our cell group meeting, we talked a lot about that elusive mystery, walking in the Spirit. We came up with a couple things that may help people out. The first thing we discovered together, is that not all parts of the Spirit-led life are black and white, 100% on or 100% off. There are parts that are grey, learned, grown in and into.
Obedience is not something you slowly grow into. Perhaps (hopefully) you become more likely to obey over time, and so-forth, but in each moment, obedience is, in fact, and all-or-nothing event. There is no such thing as half-obedience. This is a part of life with the Spirit.
Mindfulness is not something we can only paint in two colors, though. Being aware of the Spirit and His actions, we discussed, is something learned over time. We compared it to a marriage — I tend to be aware at all times of where my wife and daughter are, and what they are probably doing. I think this is mostly just because I care a great deal about their lives and I'm always around them, doing life together. This is where we're going with life in the Spirit! That inner compass that always tends to know where He is and what He's doing comes about as we do life together with the Spirit, pursue Him personally, and always happen to be around Him and His work.
These are a few of the thoughts we had on Tuesday night. Feel free to add comments and read any comments that are posted.
