The Servant of the Lord God, Part II

By daniel | April 15, 2006

This is continued from The Servant of the Lord God, Part I

Chapter 49-50

It is too small a thing for the Servant of the Lord God to just restore the faithful of Israel — He is also given as a light to all nations and peoples, to be God's salvation to the very ends of the earth.  Yet this will be the man whom man despises and nations abhor.

The Servant is speaking: "Lord God has given Me the tongue of the learned.  He awakens me morning by morning.  He has opened my ear, and I was neither rebellious, nor did I turn away from Him.  I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who ripped my beard from my face.  I did not hide from the shame and the spitting.  The Lord God will help me, and I will be vindicated.  Therefore I am fearless and determined, knowing that in the end, I will not be ashamed."
