Third Word from India/Thailand Team 2006

Steven:

Well, we've been to Thailand, India, and unofficially, Laos, but that was just playing around in the Mekong.  Since I last e-mailed, we got to take part in the gathering of believers in Nonprasert, which was actually their monthly gathering of all the nearby churches.  It was really good.  English and Thai worship services are fun, and just wonderful.  Tim and I spent two days working on pouring foundation for a church building in Phosai, near Nonprasert, while the rest of the team taught in the school and then went into villages and handed out tracts and bibles.  In some ways I envy them for that experience, but God has much work that has to be done at any given time and we can't always have the job we want, unless the only job we want is to serve our Master in whatever way HE sees fit, in which case we can.  Wednesday we did chapel for the school children and then went sight-seeing.  We saw a Buddhist temple with one of the oldest giant Bud dha statues in the world.  There were paintings all around on the outside of the building showing what hell was like for different people who weren't Buddha-y enough, and Buddha was present in all the pictures, but unable to help, according to the monkette.  That's a quality god right there, he said sarcastically.  We spent some time travelling and whatever and got into Mumbai on Friday.  We went to one village there and shared for a gathering.  Saturday we did basically the same thing, but in two villages.  I could go into more detail, but I don't know how much time I have.  We are about to go to an orphanage or two and visit the children.  Suffice it to say, we did much visiting village churches here, and we could learn a lot from these poeple about contentment and generosity.  I miss McDonald's, and Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, and quite a few people, but the Lord Jehovah is God here, so I think I'm gonna be ok.  I look forwar d to seeing everyone soon.  If you talk to them, send them my love, or something to that effect that doesn't sound too mushy.
