The Dishonest Manager, Part 2
By daniel | August 11, 2006
I've read a lot of thoughts and I've come to think of it in a few different ways. I think the primary aim of this parable has to do with our earthly wealth, and what we are doing with it. He refers to it as 'unrighteous wealth.' Jesus tells the story of the dishonest man who uses his power and his master's money to secure for himself provision once he is fired. The master commends him for his shrewdness and creativity in his dealings. Jesus notes that this man used his master's wealth in a very creative way to gain, while the righteous tend not to be as creative with their master's wealth. The implication is that we ought to use God's wealth for eternal gain.
As for people's comments, I think everyone had good points. I encourage you to read their comments — Shane gave a very clear breakdown, and I found it superb.
