Comforted by Grace

By daniel | September 11, 2006

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

II Thess. 2:16-17 (ESV)

Pardon the personal pronouns this morning - I'm finding that helpful today.

God loved me, and it is by looking at the way he's loved me, while I don't deserve it, that I can see the following:

* I can be comforted knowing that in spite of myself, He will act in my best interests, taking care of my needs and giving me legitimate wants, changing me into an eternal sort of person.  Even though I am currently who I am currently.

* And it's amazing the hope that this gives me.  I need hope.  I need to know that life will go on, even after my mistakes and stupid pride of yesterday and even this morning.  And God's love thus far has shown me that he will even be gracious to me today.

May He comfort me as described above, and may he also set my heart firmly in His good works and His good words.  May He establish within my heart the potential for every good work and the desire to speak every good word.
