Thoughts on Joseph, Part 2
By daniel | January 12, 2007
I'm moving from the end of the Joseph story into Exodus now, but I thought it might be good to take a few minutes and reflect back on what Joseph's story has given us, and what his legacy was.
Joseph brought what was then the family of God into Egypt, where they were given a great place to live, eat , and work. It was his work that planted them where they would grow at an alarming rate into a true nation. He is often given as an example. I've heard, from various people, that Joseph was an example of:
Purity
Trust
Faithfulness
Forgiveness
Humility
Patience
Suffering well
We would do well to learn these things from Joseph. His personal thoughts about his life are nowhere to be found, besides, perhaps, his speech with his family regarding forgiveness. Certainly he had his hard days where he hoped less-than-optimal circumstances for his murderous brothers, but we don't read any of that. We only see what he did, and what God accomplished with him.
